Stonehenge & more

Wiltshire is home to more prehistoric sites than any other county. Stonehenge is undoubtedly the most famous however nearby Avebury is home to the largest stone circle in Britain. The original circle is over 4600 years old but is now fragmented by roads and buildings.
Woodhenge is a Neolithic site made of concentric ovals of posts and is located near to Stonehenge along with Durrington Walls.

Salisbury Cathedral

Built in the 13th century Salisbury Cathedral is a stunning example of Gothic architecture and boasts the largest cathedral close in Britain. The spire, which was added in 1320 is the tallest cathedral spire in the UK and home to a nesting pair of peregrine falcons.
Inside the cathedral is the only copy of the Magna Carta on permanent display along with the world's oldest mechanical clock. Salisbury Cathedral regularly hosts contemporary art exhibitions.

We highly recommend a visit to Salisbury Cathedral, just 16 miles from West View

Wiltshire's White Horses

Wiltshire's famous white chalk horses are unique to the county. Originally thirteen, now eight of these iconic landmarks remain.

The oldest is located at Westbury and dates back to 1778. The newest can be found in Devizes and was created in 1999 to commemorate the millennium.
Each of these is around 12 miles drive from our accommodation.
